National Open Art Competition 2016

My pastel painting ‘Check Mates I’ was been shortlisted in the National Open Art (NOA) 2016 Competition.

The Art of Reflection Competition

I’m really delighted that my pastel painting ‘Waterlilies in the Majorelle Garden’ made it to the (quite long) short-list for Jackson’s ‘Art of Reflection’ Competition.

Unison Colour’s featured artist

“Our Unison Colour ‘Your art’ featured artist is Susan Brooke. Susan recently became a joint award winner (non-member) of The Pastel Society Annual Exhibition with her painting titled Urban Angel and this is the piece we have featured on our website. I asked Susan why she chose our pastels to work with & she said ‘I was introduced to pastels at a one-day workshop about 4 years ago and our teacher admitted that Unison pastels were her personal favourites. So I thought, well if they’re good enough for her – why mess about? It probably sounds a bit trite, but it was pretty much love at first sight!’. The picture in this post is named Check Mates.”

Alpha Art Award

Susan won the Alpha Art Award at Patchings Art Competition this year. An article featuring the competition winners was published in the September 2015 edition of ‘Leisure Painter’ – see below.

What?

Susan’s pastel of family friend, Lucy, was selected for the Patchings Art Exhibition earlier this year.
